...ME, AND A PROMISE TO KEEP

You’re a woman navigating this world with all the labels society gave you.

Muslim. Woman. Other.

You feel a disconnect between your parents’ culture and the one you’re immersed in, a war between who you’re told you’re ‘supposed’ to be and who you want to be. You’ve been fighting the good fight – and quite admirably at that!

It’s just that everything feels heavy…off.. Maybe it’s been that way for a while now, maybe it’s new. And you don’t like it. You’ve thought about seeking help through therapy but what would Ammi say?

How do you even broach the subject?

Whenever mental health has come up in conversation, aunties and uncles have dismissed people with poor mental health as having low emaan. You know… “If they just prayed some more, just read Qur’an, they wouldn’t be this way!”…YOU wouldn’t be this way.

SOMETHING has to change, you just don’t know where to start.

You could start with therapy.

(If you don’t think this is you exactly but you’d still like to try therapy with me, try an initial consultation! It’s there to see if we’re a good fit for each other.)

And who am I?

AND WHO AM I?

Sarah Taher

I’m offering online therapy (and more!) to women of the Muslim diaspora. I’ve spent my life in Kuwait, Malaysia, England and Pakistan, and I’ve seen how reluctant we can be to seek mental health care. Often, nobody wants anyone to know they’re going to therapy. With COVID and lockdowns, it’s even become difficult to go to a therapist. So I’m bringing myself to you – find yourself a private space and get in touch!

PROMISE

I will meet you where you are.

I will not judge, I will not push any agenda on you.

I’m here to support you, help you gain insight and cultivate the best tools to deal with your life head-on. I will never ask you to do anything that goes against Allah’s Deen, Insha’Allah. Just come as you are.

You’ll have to commit to yourself. I’m willing to. And if you see it through, therapy can transform your life Insha’Allah.

How can I help you, today?
