Preparing the Heart
A Marriage Readiness Group for Muslim Women

Join the waitlist ↓

Thinking about marriage brings up a lot — hope, pressure, excitement, exhaustion, sometimes all in the same week. Preparing the Heart is a small, confidential group for Muslim women who want to approach marriage with clarity and confidence, instead of anxiety and comparison — whether you’re beginning this process for the first time or returning to it after a previous chapter.

Over four sessions, you’ll get honest space to reflect on what you actually want (not what your family or community expects), build a realistic and faith-grounded picture of compatibility, and walk away with practical tools for navigating the search — all alongside other women who get it.

This group is led by Sarah Taher, a Muslim therapist, in a warm, non-judgmental space where faith and mental health are held together, not separately.

Is This Group For You?

This group may be a good fit if you:

  • Feel ready (or are trying to feel ready) for marriage, but aren’t sure where to start
  • Are navigating pressure from family or community around your marital status
  • Want to approach marriage as an act of worship, not just a life milestone
  • Have had discouraging or painful experiences in the marriage search process
  • Want to get clearer on your values before continuing the search
  • Are approaching marriage for the first time, or returning to it after a previous relationship, marriage, or a season spent focused on career or other priorities
  • Are looking for a supportive community of women navigating this alongside you
  • Are seeking a process grounded in Islamic guidance

What to Expect

  • 4 weekly sessions, 90 minutes each
  • Held live over Zoom — join from wherever feels private and comfortable
  • Small group (6–8 women) so there’s real space for everyone to be heard
  • A confidential, judgment-free environment — what’s shared in group stays in group
  • A mix of guided discussion, reflection exercises, and practical tools you’ll keep

Session Guide

Session 1 — Niyyah & Readiness Identity, Values & Readiness Root your intention (niyyah) before anything else. Get honest about why marriage matters to you — separate from outside pressure — and start identifying the values you actually want to build a life around.

Session 2 — Kafa’ah & Mawaddah Compatibility & Islamic Framing Move past checklists and fairy tales. Explore what true compatibility (kafa’ah) and love and mercy (mawaddah wa rahmah) actually look like, and get clear on your non-negotiables versus your nice-to-haves.

Session 3 — Tawakkul & Qadr Family Pressure, Comparison & Self-Worth A space to process the harder parts — rejection, comparison, family commentary — while learning to hold trust in Allah’s timing (tawakkul) and divine decree (qadr) alongside a sense of worth that isn’t tied to your relationship status.

Session 4 — Istikhara & Boundaries Boundaries & Confidence Leave with practical tools: how to seek clarity through istikhara, set boundaries with family, recognise red and green flags, and carry forward a personal commitment statement.
